I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case that their death had an impact on him, and some of his dialogue has a very different spin when it comes from someone who may have not only been struggling with feeling like his life has no meaning.but also someone who may have lost two folks in his life who possibly 'had it all together and a bright future' only for it to be snuffed out. ![]() The one who shall have custody and take care of my daughter in the event we pass on." And for Shane to be given godparenthood complete with custody as a friend.versus the more common trend that a relative would take the responsibility.he would have been really close to Jas' parents. Cause let's face it, there are not likely many folks who would look at Shane at the start of the game and go "ah yes, this man shall be the godparent to my child. Honestly.I always got the impression that the Shane we meet in SDV is probably not the same guy he was had we met him like five years ago. I think that's the more confusing part to me about their family, and why it turns into a question of relations, because if Jas wasn't related to Marnie in some way, she really probably wouldn't stay with her after Shane marries the farmer. I also thought that the romance option would have Jas come live with you as one of your "kids" if Shane found his place at the farm because he DOES have custody of her over Marnie, but I believe that is not as true as I would have liked it to be. And it was the drinking that led him to live with Marnie when he realized he needed to find a safe place for this kid he didn't know how to raise and reminded him of these people he was obviously really close to. After finding all that out about Jas (I don't know why but I always seem to make friends with her the fastest in play throughs), I always attributed her parents deaths as perhaps the reason Shane acts the ways he does. I haven't romanced Shane myself but I always felt really sad for him. It made a whole lot more sense when I realized that Jas wasn't related, only Shane was. I found it was really confusing that Jas was left with Shane if Marnie was her aunt, as it seemed Marnie would have been named caretaker due to her rather stable lifestyle. I really thought Jas and Shane were cousins as well, at first. Why are Shane and Jas living with their Aunt? Were their parents killed? Were their parents too poor to efficiently take care of their children? Were their parents bad people who were unwilling to take care of their children and take responsibility? Was Shane sick of his past living situation and wanted to live on a farm with animals? Was Shane forced to live with Marine in hopes to change his addiction to alcohol and attitude towards other people? I have so many theories about this whole family living situation.ĭid I miss anything about their family, something I haven’t found yet or is there really no current information on this? ![]() I know Alex lives with his grandparents do to (spoilers) his mother being dead and his father being a deadbeat jerk. That leaves me wondering where are Shane and Jas’ parents? ![]() It was then at the Spirits Eve festival is where I learned that Marnie was too Jas’ Aunt. Later on I figured out Marine was Shane’s aunt, which then made me think Jas was Marnie’s daughter and was Shane’s cousin which I guess technically she still is. The first time I played stardew valley I instantly thought Shane and Marnie were married and Jas was their daughter. Shane’s family situation has always boggled my mind.
